Horse Head Shoes

These were made from two horse shoes in the forge. I usually hot cut the shoe in the middle and draw these ends out to a point as hoof picks for horse clients. The facial features and mane were done with various punches that I made for this project. The mane coloration is done with a brass brush rubbed over the mane in the black heat stage. I then give a light coat of boiled linseed oil for patina and it soaks into the hot metal to stay as a rust protectant. I was inspired by -Dragonladych- her horse head bronze cast in my favorites, to keep them as one shoe and not split them up.
